I'm quickly learning that the scale is not the most accurate tool for measuring fitness success. When I first started this journey, my husband and I went out and got the weight watchers scale. You can add in your weight, age, and sex and it remembers you as a "user". As a user, it shows you water weight, bone density, weight, bmi, and fat percentage. Even with all of these fancy little add on's, I didn't feel like it was accurately showing my changes. After talking to one of my friends about how discouraged I was with my weight loss lbs progress, she suggested I start tracking my inches. I was a little hesitant to do this, mostly just my fear of actually seeing my measurements. I've been working out every night and doing the herbalife shakes, but my actual weight hasn't really changed, even though my husband says I've been looking more toned. I decided it's finally time to start tracking my inches lost to see the accuracy of the changes/improvements of my body. Last night I finally took the plunge and completed my "initial measurements" and wrote them down on my little chart. I finally have an in stone starting place. Of course I'm not happy with my initial measurements, but that's why they're initial. It gives me a starting place to improve and see just how much hard work can pay off. It makes me a little nervous to be putting my measurements up on the internet, but I have to be held accountable for progress right? The chart I'm using is a 6 month chart and it has places to put measurements for both arms, both thighs, chest, waist, and hips. Breaking it down by body part will also help me target which areas I need to improve more and which areas are changing. I started on a Monday, but I think I'm going to switch it to Sunday measurements. It's just easier for me to complete measurements on a Sunday than Monday. I read you're supposed to weight yourself on Wednesdays to get you're "true" weight, but i'm not sure if that's the same for measuring? I can't wait to track my progress (or regression) week by week to see the changes. Well *gulp* without further ado, here are my initial measurements:
Weight: 129.9 ( *Insert Side eye*)
Chest: 36.5 (At least I have that working for me)
Waist: 30.5 (I guess I won't be appearing in baby got back since I don't have the 24. I got the 36's and the 5'3. Maybe they'll make an exception?)
Right Arm: 10
Left Arm: 10.25 (Soo. Is this because I'm left handed or is one of my arms just larger than the other? #Confidenceboost)
Right Thigh: 19.75
Left Thigh: 19.75 (At least they're working together for consistency)
Hip: 37
